Nancy Perpall
“I have a term for an unhappy marriage. It‘s malnourished.”
Nancy Perpall is a former critical care nurse and family lawyer. After taking apart marriages for over 30 years she is sharing what she learned representing all genders, races, religions, and nationalities in an effort to keep them together.
Her recently published book, The Malnourished Marriage: 5 Essential Emotional Nutrients For A Healthy Relationship, uses food as a metaphor to demonstrate what a relationship needs to thrive: Communication is compared to water, Sex is compared to protein, Laughter and Play are compared to carbohydrate, Compromise is compared to healthy fats, and Trust is compared to a multivitamin.
Her novel, Around Which All Things Bend. Addresses how far a person will bend to get love, to give it and how too much bending will break it. Nancy lives with her husband, Dr. David Mulligan, in Lakewood Ranch, Florida.

If your relationship is not satisfying your needs and you think the problem is that you’re with the wrong person – think again. It’s not changing a partner that will fulfill your needs, it’s changing your mindset about the relationship.
Did you know that your relationship itself has needs? Just as your body requires specific types of food to be healthy, The Malnourished Marriage: 5 Essential Emotion Nutrients for A Healthy Relationship uses food as a metaphor to reveal the emotional categories every relationship needs to be healthy.

Alex Whitgate’s life is already mapped out before he’s born as the heir to a sprawling Montana ranch. His future is determined—what he will do, where he will attend college, and which branch of the military he will serve in.
After returning from Afghanistan, his widowed mother suggests it’s time for him to marry and secure the family legacy. Alex reluctantly becomes engaged to a woman with whom he shares passionate chemistry. But when she makes an outrageous demand just days before their wedding, Alex breaks off the engagement.
Seeking a fresh start, Alex travels to Charleston, a city steeped in Civil War history and haunted by ghosts unwilling to leave. There, he meets Brooke Bryant, a PhD psychology student whose southern roots are as deeply embedded as Alex’s are in Montana.
As Alex and Brooke fall in love, they face challenges—both the distance between them and an ex-fiancé determined to rekindle their romance. Can their love survive, or are there certain stories that are not meant to be?
